What's up w/ Parasol's???

I was there after the parade last nite and NOPD closed it down... which is odd enough, but it was EARLY. Early enough that I came home, watched a movie and ordered pizza after a day of drinking and made it thru the end of the movie.

I was craving a roast beef po-boy and called to order it and niether the kitchen or bar answered. I didn't walk down to see if they were shuttered, but I did call a few more times and got nothing.

Anyone know what's going on?

  1. Since they have their big block party on the actual St Patty's day I've heard Parasol's closes on the parade days to avoid humongous crowds (aka block party size crowds) when they don't have the permit for those days.

Well, a guy in the office said he was at teh parade and that he had a po-boy at Parasol's so I guess it was open at some point...

Yeah, we were at Parasol's all afternoon. Don't know what happened after we left.

I guess I wasn't clear in my original post... We were at Parasol's in the evening and out of nowhere NOPD shut everything down. It was after dark, but not late in the evening, party was still in full swing. Just curious. Seemed really odd to me.

As gastrotect stated, maybe they don't have a permit for a day other than St Patty's day, so the police showed up to help clear the crowd, otherwise, try as they might Parasol's would not be able to get people to leave just by asking them nicely. That still does not explain why they were not answering the phone, unless they decided to shut down as well.

Maybe they decided shutting down was the best way to clear out the crowds and avoid any confusion...
