Tropicana 64 oz. containers are no longer

I know we've talked about this in several other threads, like ice cream, but here we go again. The latest in the "lower the quantity but keep the price the same" battle - or whatever you want to call it:

http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/com...

The half-gallons will now be 59 oz. and will remain the same price; the gallon sizes will rise in price by 5-8%. The winter freeze related losses and supply limitation is the reason given by Pepsico to "minimize the impact to the consumer."

HOWEVER...the article states "the eight days below freezing in January resulted in less damage than growers originally anticipated. In fact, industry representatives were quite upbeat, saying the citrus community is "in better shape than we first thought" and proudly noting growers' "resiliency." and "Further, the price hikes will be permanent, even though the aberrant weather is unlikely to return..."

So this just seems to be a convenient excuse for Pepsico/Tropicana to raise prices.

Yes, I know; I'm not surprised. Resigned, I guess.

Maybe we can stop the normal bitching about how big bad business is sticking it to people more quickly than in previous threads.
