My husband and I and another couple had a wonderful dinner last night at Monocacy Crossing. We've been looking for a place to eat that is close to our home in Montgomery Village/Gaithersburg as this area isn't particularly rife with above-average restaraunts.

Monocacy Crossing is a country restuarant with sophisticated tastes. Located on Rt. 355, and about a 30 minute drive from Gaithersburg, it's country charm belies an impressive wine selection and a Chef educated at the CIA.

Our dinner party enjoyed: Garlic and Herb topped Beef Medallions wrapped with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Grilled New York Strip Steak with Shallot Butter, and Pork Tenderloin with Sage-Cider Sauce and Scalloped Potatoes. All were delicious and served with mashed potatoes with just a hint of garlic, and braised asparagus.

The atmosphere was friendly, with a row of pillar candles along one side of the dining room we were in, and the service was excellent, There is an outdoor seating area as well that would be a wonderful spot for weather-permitting meals.

  1. My husband and friends and I have always enjoyed Monacacy Crossing. You don't expect it to be as good as it is.
