Lady selling cobbler at Venice/LaBrea?

I was driving west on Venice Blvd., on Saturday about 3pm yesterday. I was in the left lane waiting for the signal to change to head south towards home. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a lady holding a relatively small sign saying "cobbler" on the northeastern corner of the intersection. Is this a new thing and has anyone tried the merchandise?

  1. i've seen it too! i think it just showed up in the last couple of months but i've never tried it. i'm very curious about how the cobbler is...

    1. I saw it too! Happened to drive through that intersection on Saturday. Thought it was a weird place to be selling cobbler, not like there's much foot traffic there, even if there's a lot of drive-bys. I recall that the name was catchy, but now I can't remember it!

      1. I got curious and googled "cobbler lady los angeles" and up popped these links...I'm familiar with area, but unfamiliar with the lady and the cobblers she sells so I'm not sure if this is the right lead or not?

The Cobbler Lady is a shop on Crenshaw. GREAT COBBLER! Never to sweet! That being said, maybe they are trying gorilla advertising, but I doubt it.

The Cobbler Lady is also found @ Sunday Hollywood Farmer's market

Are you sure that is the same Cobbler Lady?

Wasn't The Cobbler Lady, I've heard of that and I would have recognized it.

The post below that mentions "Cobblermania" is the winner. A bit of googling confirms it's the one.

          3. I think this is Cobblermania (or something like that). They sell at the Hollywood Farmers Market, as well. Near the Farmer's Kitchen restaurant, as I recall. (Although come to think of it, I'm not sure they've been there the last few weeks.)

"JamesF" is correct. I saw the lady at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market and she confirmed that's her business. The reason I now know the name is they have a little place on the NE corner of Venice/La Brea with their name on the little building. It has a rollup door to secure the place. The funny thing is they were closed when I drove by this past Saturday around 2:30pm. I couldn't try the cobbler since I was just making a quick looksee in the area. She seemed to have no sugar added cobblers too.

            1. We did not care for the cobbler that we purchased from a lady at a farmer's market...sorry, I can't recall the name of the stand or the lady selling it (I only remember that she was a pretty aggressive saleslady), but it was not to be compared with the Cobbler Lady on Crenshaw.

The Cobbler Lady on Crenshaw is delicious...and you are right, Burger Boy, it is never overly sweet. For my tastes, this is the best cobbler to date.

I happened to drive by The Cobbler Lady today so stopped and tried her blackberry cobbler. It immediately went onto my list of best-things-I've-ever-eaten. As a pie person, I always looked down my nose at cobbler, but TCL converted me.

And since we're talking cobbler, Earlez Grille (on Crenshaw just a few blocks north of TCL) makes a fine peach cobbler, but with a more crumble-type topping.

                  Hi, Daniel Slosberg!
I am so glad to read your rave review of The Cobbler Lady's blackberry cobbler. It is my favorite, too!
