Meskerem in Charlotte...

seems to have a good reputation. Can anyone here give me your opinions?

  1. I ate there recently and thought the food was very good, although that was my first and only experience with Ethiopian cuisine, so my opinion may not mean much. I wish it had a little more atmosphere, but its definitely somewhere I'd return to.

    1. I think it is excellent. We've had a few Ethiopian places in Charlotte over the years, but this is my favorite. People are very nice as well.

      1. I've eaten there several times over the past year with friends & family. Like others, I'm no real expert in Ethopian food, but we've all enjoyed it. I used to go to Red Sea near CPCC, but service & cleanliness were so lacking, I wrote that place off.

The staff at Meskerem are very friendly & helpful with questions. I'd recommend that you give it a try.

Thanks. I've only had Ethiopian in Boston and DC, which are (no offense to CLT) a little more cosmopolitan, so I was curious about the quality, but I will head over there soon to check it out.

The D.C. area is well-known for great Ethiopian; Meskerem is definitely as good as any you're likely to find around here. Again, it is very friendly and they have a vegetarian lunch buffet Tues. through Thurs. - one of the only buffets I enjoy (although dinner is decidedly better still).
