Favorite Bun Cha in L.A.?

A few different Vietnamese restaurants in L.A. have bun cha, but does anybody have a place they think makes it the best? This is a dish I feel the need to spend more time with.

I really don't know of any amazing Bun Cha in LA proper. Quan Hop in OC does a very good version. Their pork is good and the sauce has the right amount of funk.

I haven't really found any places in LA that have really good Hanoi-style food. I would also love to find a place that specializes in Hue food in SGV too. I'm open to suggestions.

Not in LA, but I crave Vien Dong's (on Brookhurst in Garden Grove). It's the pork meatball that does it for me.

Both are good but I like Vien Dong's better.

            Hi Das,

Why'd you have to bring up Vien Dong so early in the morning? :) Now you have me craving it, and their amazing Egg Rolls (thanks again for that awesome rec! :).

What I wouldn't give for a Vien Dong in the West Hollywood/Hollywood area. Their grilled catfish dish is just my idea of heaven. Nothing bad on the menu including the bun cha dishes.

I like Bun Cha at Quan Huynh SE corner of Bolsa/Bushard better. Recession sale $4.99 now, they give you more pork patties and grilled pork.

I have no basis for comparison but I have really enjoyed the Bun Cha at Saigon on Santa Monica Blvd in West LA.

Pho 79 has several locations, there is one in Alhambra. I know this family, their foods are always decent. I have not been to the Alhambra location but almost sure you will not be disappointed. Their menu have several vietnamese dishes, not only Pho. BTW, Pho is very good.

I don't think the one in Garden Grove serves bun cha, but they do make standard bun. I bet they'd make bun cha if you asked, assuming they've got the stuff on hand for the sauce.

No I have not tried. If they do not have bun cha, I am sure they must have Bun Thit Nuong, almost the same. Bun Cha has pork patties, Bun Thit Nuong only has grilled BBQ porks.

Bún chả Hà Nội has a sweeter sauce; bún thịt nướng uses standard nước chấm. They're not the same.

bun cha =/= bun thit nuong. not sure why you'd recommend this place on a thread titled favorite bun cha in LA.
