The Chocolate Brownie Search (Photo)

Hypnotic23 Mar 12, 2010 05:34 PM

We've spoken numerous times on this board who in Los Angeles makes the best brownie. I've tried Farm Boy, just average, tried the mail order brownies.com-did nothing for me.

Until I stopped at Dupar's Restaurant in the Bakery up front as you walk in.

This Studio City spot on Ventura Blvd is best known for their pancakes, trust me and try this brownie, it weighs near a pound.

I took a photo finally for people to see.

Enjoy,

Stuart

Do you prefer these to the ones at Big Sugar (just a short walk away)? I haven't tried Du Pars's brownie, but if you've tried both and like Du Pars's better, then I'll suspend my disbelief and try it!

Big Sugar has a great brownie, but she puts coffee in them. Sometimes they taste more like mocha brownies than chocolate brownies.

Really? Even in their plain brownies? I go there only occasionally so I guess I haven't run into one with noticeable coffee flavor. Not that I'd mind -- mocha brownies sound great!

My grandma used to get me a chocolate cake type donut at DuPars that was very tall, covered with chocolate frosting, kinda of 'brownie like' and oh so good! Haven't been to DuPars since the Naylors bought it cause I don't want to find that they changed the great pancake of my youth! Maybe it's time?!!!
