I want to make Momofuku chilled spicy noodles at home

PhillyCook Mar 12, 2010 07:29 AM

Had these yesterday and I now want to eat nothing else...

Any suggestions? They seem like they should be relatively easy to replicate: chilled noodles, spicy Szechuan sausage, spinach leaves, candied cashews.

Has anyone tried this? Does it work? I did a google search for a recipe, but came up empty handed.

Also, suggestions for where to get great Szechuan sausage in Philadephia?

    Hi there-
I had these this weekend and I agree: I want to eat nothing else!

Have you had any luck finding a recipe? Please share!

Did you look at Amazon, on the Momofuku cookbook page? The recipe for Ginger Scallion Noodles and Ginger Scallion Sauce is there.

I have a spicy chilled noodle recipe I got from a friend. Not quite the same as the one described above but easy and tasty, and doesn't require any hard-to-find items.

Mix in a saucepan and cook briefly:
        1/2 C peanut butter
        2T soy sauce
        2T rice wine vinegar
        2T red chili garlic paste
1 rounded T minced fresh ginger
        4T sesame oil
        1/2 C coconut milk

        Toss above mixture together with:
        8 oz cooked chilled soba
        6 thinly slivered scallions
        1T toasted sesame seeds

        Chill and serve.

I'm not sure if it's the exact recipe you seek, but there's a noodle recipe with scallion sauce, I think, posted on Amazon with the Momofuku listing.
