Where to buy fresh sashimi on Oahu?

Aloha chowhounders,

I will be visiting Oahu April 1-15, staying in Waikiki (with in-laws & it's free) and likely doing some eating in. I've looked at restaurant recommendations already but couldn't find any suggestions on where to buy sashimi. I think I could just eat that for a week though I'd have to go shopping for it each day to keep it fresh.

I'd appreciate if you could tell me if I could get there by public transport (bus) or if I'd have to drive. We will be renting a car part of the time but not the entire time we're there.

much appreciated.

  1. If you don't mind slicing by yourself, go to china town. very good fish market there. I'll be going to Oahu for vacation at the end of March too. If you are lucky you can find OPI. abalone like small shell fish. You eat them like oyster. Mmmmm so goood

For live fresh local grown abalone, the KCC Farmer's market has them on Saturdays either pre-packed with the shell on (five to a bag for $10) or grilled right there for (2 for $5).

    2. I might be kind of late but whenever I go back home to visit, I always go to Sams Club on Keeaumoku St. (above Wal*Mart) near the Ala Moana Shopping Center and get their already sliced ahi sashimi from the seafood section. Ask the ladies behind the counter for free packaged shoyu and/or wasabi if you desire. Great for parties or pot lucks too. Another place close by would be Don Quijote on Kaheka St. for smaller quantities. You can also try Haili's in Kapahulu for fresh raw fish.

I think Costco may have sashimi also like Sam's. I know they have the poke'
