Dinner Near Encino Laemmle - recs pls
Seeing an art film tomorrow w another couple and haven't been here in years -- thoughts on any decent restaurants nearby? As I remember, there's a good sushi restaurant across the street... anyone have the name for it? We're also open to any "genre" of food minus Thai (we have a ton of Thai in Silverlake) and Indian. Thanks!

Yes, saw this and nothing looks appealing -- not interested in Middle Eastern food as we live next to Glendale and we eat this at least once or twice a week. Not interested in Thai or Vietnamese. Would like a nice place to visit w friends -- a bistro, italian restaurant, something upscale casual....

Sorry about linking the other thread. If I had known you weren't interested in Middle Eastern food as well as Indian and Thai I wouldn't have bothered.

They (Fabrocini's) don't have a working website at the moment, but you can take a look at their menu on Sporq: http://www.sporq.com/tarzana/fabrocin...

The Sushi Place is Sushi Hirosuke.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I always do a search before I post -- should have said that first. These two places look good!

I enjoy Hirosuke as a neighborhood sushi bar. It's not going to blow anyone away, but they do some good non-traditional rolls.
A mile or two miles east of the Laemmle is Sampa Grill, a relatively decent Brazillian Churrascaria. The meat is pretty good and the salad bar has a nice variety.
For bistro food and Italian, I would go into Sherman Oaks to La Frite or Spumoni (which I find far superior to Fabrocini's). Italian in Encino is basically Maria's or Emilio's, which are just bad.
Closer to the Laemmle is The Stand, which has decent hot dogs and burgers.
Taj Mahal, just west of White Oak, is pretty good for Indian.

I just remembered Cafe Carolina, west of White Oak. I've never been, but it has a good review here: http://www.chow.com/restaurants/591448/cafe-carolina
Another option is Vino, a wine bar with small plates. There are some positive, though not detailed, comments here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/684357
