Need recommendations - Le petit Tokebi (NDG)
Does anyone know Le Petit Tokebi? (I have searched the board and found nothing on it.)
Is the food good? Should I try it?
Also, if you can give me recommendations on Asian restaurants close to NDG.
Thanks.

Well - best way is to try it yourself. :)
Actually, it's a favorite of our family. Both our kids love it, as do we. It's simple, home-style, clean, fresh-tasting, and inexpensive.
Maybe not a place to drive across town for, but as a neighborhood place it's great.
Definitely go for it.

Le Petit Tokebi, I’ve been to before though always in the summer when you can sit outside. It’s fine and there is actually another location on Crescent street.
Asian restos in NDG that ive tried:
Hwang Kum on Sherbrooke is ymmuy as is Kagopa on St-Jacques if you want Korean. There is another Korean on upper Lachine I go to on Mondays (the other two are closed on Mondays). It does the trick but is not usually worth the detour. Oh and there is Damoa near Loyla –owners are super friendly and the food is actually quite ok but they don’t have an extensive menu. (they do deliver if you live within a few blocks).
Just tried Pho 88 which is on Decarie, just north of Queen Mary- if you are craving Vietnamese it will cure your fix but not spectacular. (im hoping they will start delivering!)
Caveau Szechwan on Monkland and Tchang Kiang on Sherbrooke for stereotypical meh “Chinese” food.
Bangkok Express on Monkland- i went to once a few years ago and would be the Thai resto in NDG, but no one on this board is raving about it.
And if you are all craving different types of Asian, Asean Gardens on Sherbrooke is a good bet (They have some sushi specials that are only good for takeout/deliery orders) It's like the B&M of Asian fare :)
And I guess if you want good sushi, there is only Mikado on Monkland.
If you live in NDG, you will get flyers for different places, among them Montrose, which is super cheap and very hit-and-miss.
To avoid: Korean place on Cavendish and Soup& Noodle place on Monkland
Ok, it's 7am and the kids need breakfast...that's all i've got for now :)

Bangkok Express is OK (just OK) for a Pad Thai fix if you're in the area -- if you want it spicy you have to be very emphatic.
I'm still puzzled at the love (or even like) for Asean Gardens. To me this is in the same category as Tchang Kiang (which is actually not bad if you crave that kind of classic Canadianized Chinese), only Asean has more stuff. The all-you-can-eat deal is seriously overpriced IMHO.
Went to Hwang Kum once and enjoyed it.
On the whole, for Asian restaurants *close to* NDG I'd say "both Chinatowns are about 15-20 minutes from Snowdon, Villa Maria or Vendome metro.... why settle?"

I am not a fan of Asean Gardens - had one of the worst dining experiences ever there. However, Tchang Kiang, if you order off of their other menu, has some decent Cantonese-style dishes (there's a pork and tree ear mushroom dish I quite like there, among others) - but skip their Americanised Chinese dishes.
