Anacortes WA - Lunch Near Ferry Terminal? Suggestions, Please!

I'm planning trip to San Juan Islands on a Saturday in mid-July. I'd like to take the 2:45 p.m. ferry. I know I need to have my car in line early.

I'd love to get in line and then have a nice lunch. Any suggestions of places within very easy walking distance of the ferry terminal?

Thanks.

Should this post not be on the Pacific Northwest Board, since Anacortes is quite a bit north of Everett?

I am in that area quite a bit and my fav meal to get on the way to the ferry is from http://shrimpshack.us/index.html. It would be maybe a 3 mile detour on your way to the ferry. I highly recommend the Sweet D- oysters and beef on the same sandwich- oh my yes! The fish and chips are average, but those oyster burgers are SO good!

You can't walk into town from the ferry terminal, it's too far (maybe if you had your bike?). There have been restaurants or snack bars near the terminal at various times, but the last time we were down there they all looked rather out of business - maybe someone who takes the ferry more often would know for sure. I would suggest stopping in town, perhaps at Gere-a-deli or The Market, and getting some takeout to eat in the ferry line. Or have a large late brunch at the Calico Cupboard before driving out to the terminal.

Freida - thanks for this suggestion! I looked at menus for the places you recommended. I think we could find some really good things to eat while waiting in line. Thanks so much!
