Looking for Kaffir Lime Leaves

Blaeloch Mar 11, 2010 11:27 AM

Uwajimaya says they are out until further notice and Ranch 99 says they will not be getting them anymore. Anyone seen any lately in Seattle area?

Call Central Market in Shoreline and ask if they have them. I've bought them there in the past..

Thanks, Tom--I didn't mention that I had seen lime leaves at CM, but they're not Kaffir type. Theirs will be my fall-back if I can't find the real deal.

I got some about a month ago for a tum yum soup recipe at the Chinese grocery off of Northup Way in Bellevue. Can't remember the name of the store, but it's next to Seattle Lighting.

HT market has them I believe as well as a range of Southeast Asian herbs and supplies.
They are located in the old Larry's mkt on Aurora north.

Thanks--I forgot to check HT! I'm bike-only and in Lake City, so that works over Bellevue.

It's been a while, and I have no information about current availability, but I've got kaffir-lime leaves at the Souk, in the Pike Place Market.

I would think that southeast Asian supermarkets like Viet Wah would carry them. There are three branches in the Puget Sound area.

I saw that sign at Uwaj a couple of weeks ago now---this is a little troubling to me, as I haven't seen them around the other usual places lately either. I wonder if there's some crop problem. I'll see if I can find someone with the 411 in Uwajimaya produce section this week...

HT does not have them A woman there d she thought there was a shipment problem. Wonder if there is a quarantine or something. I know I had the same problem finding curry leaves and learned there was a ban. Now both Uwaj and HT have curry leaves! But no kaffir lime.

                  Have you tried Mekong Rainier?

I'm a little late to this discussion, but yes there is a quarantine on them. I asked at Uwaj, and they said they didn't know when they'd be able to stock them again.

I checked around White Center today, and at least two of the asian groceries around 16th and Roxbury still have them. They look fresh, so somebody must have a source somewhere.

I went to HT Market today and they were in stock, yay!

This is an old thread, but just in case others like me have recently been looking for them, Whole Foods in South Lake Union sells them, and probably other locations as well.

I recently bought some at Uwajimaya in the I.D.
