I meeting my dad for dinner tonight and I need some suggestions for where to go. He will be taking metro north so something that is close to grand central would be good. Nothing overly pricey, but not a dive either.
As for cuisine America, Italian, Greek, Mediterranean, Seafood (not Oyster bar), or places with a wide selection would be best.

Pera is delicous food and very close to Grand Central. Cafe Centro and Naples 45 are both within the Grand Central complex (Metlife portion) and are quite good.

I highly recommend at La Fonda del Sol, located on the street level of the MetLife Bldg., around the corner from Grand Central. Delicious Spanish cuisine, including excellent tapas and fish. Good service and lovely ambiance in the dining room, which is where we ate. (There's also a more casual lounge.)
