Shad Roe

Any sightings of shad roe in stores or on menus in Fairfield County? Seems early still, but I'm always afraid I'll miss the season.

While I'm on the subject, if anyone has an inspired wine pairing suggestion, I'm all ears. I usually just saute the roe lightly in butter, then squeeze a lemon over it and add a spoonful of capers

Also saw some at Scotts Corner Market. That's in Pound Ridge NY but an easy reach for New Canaanites. If Scott's has it that means their supplier New Wave Seafood in Stamford has it too.

I have seen it at Caraluzzi's in Georgetown.

Saw some today at Bud's in Branford. More than likely this early in the season its coming from Maryland or Delaware.
