Where to buy gourmet fruitcake???

wife's dad is ill.

does anyone know of a good gourmet fruitcake that I could order and ship?

I did find one...there is actually a Trappist monastery that makes a killer fruitcake...but there's uses bourbon.

I check online and all the alcohol does not necessarily cook out...and can't take the chance with all the medication he is on.

I am guessing Harry and David is just ok...

anyone know of a better source?

thanks so much

  1. Try Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas. ( I honestly don't recall whether their recipe includes alcohol, but they might be able to do ne special for you if you call the PR office. The number is right om the home page.

    1. Bien Fait Specialty Cakes in Greensboro Vt will fix you up.
Bonus points: the owners are "fortunate" and donate profits to charity. Good products made with love.

      1. I can second the recommendation about Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas. I have been there, dragging my family in, just to see what all the fuss was about. I had tried their fruitcake after being given one by my MIL, and loved it. When I finally got to see the place in person, I knew why. It is still a homey atmosphere. They sell coffee for ten cents, and encourage you to try all of their varieties, which they have out for sampling. The cakes are very high quality.

They also sell and apricot cake and some other varieties. The basic fruitcake is classic and wonderful. Check out their web site.

          1. Unfortunately, in my experience the term gourmet fruitcake has been an oxymoron, but I have
            not tried any of these.
