Solo takeout in North York
My husband and children are away until Monday so I have 6 nights to enjoy the best North Toronto has to offer. What can I get for takeout that is amazing so I can relax and home and catch up on my chickflicks and reading (a luxury working full time and have two small kids does not usually allow)?
The facts:
Won't go south of St. Clair or North of Steeles, West of Dufferin or East of Leslie.
Am not worried about fat or calories as long as it is "worth it" (i.e. I will eat Scaramouche Coconut Cream Pie but not a Doughnut from Tims)
LOVE Sidecar, Scaramouche (obviously), and La Bruschetta but also Wild Wings, California Sandwiches, and Stockyard.
Taro's? You do not mention sushi, but if you are going to take out then this might be an option.

No, I did not mention sushi. For a reason. I do not like it. I have tried but alas, when I dine with sushi lovers, I stick to the dynamite roll, teriyaki, and tempura veggies.

Scaramouche is south of St. Clair, in your "won't go" area. Do you want to revise your geographic criteria?

Just trying to create a reference of what I like. I like to go to Scaramouche for a night out but for takeout, I like to stick closer to home for optimal temperature & freshness upon consumption :-)

Have you tried Milagro? I'd order the cochinita pibil (tangy braised pulled pork), which comes with some refried black beans (particularly yummy), a little pile of pickled onions and fresh corn tortillas. Maybe get a side order of rice or guacamole (which usually needs a dash of salt and squirt of lime) to round it out. Open a couple of beers at home, or make a pitcher of sangria. Add a book or a chick flick and you have a perfect evening. :)

Just the kind of thing I was thinking of. That takes care of one night...keep it coming!
Update: tonight I got beef tenderloin from costco (one of my favorite deals there) and grilled it along with sweet potato fries w/ chipotle ranch dip.

Well, since you asked... I'd do Tabule one night. Order the fried cauliflower (ask for the tahini on the side), the garlic tomatoes and your choice of grilled kebab dinner, which is served with a yummy rice pilaf (ask for extra onions) and a few grilled veggies. Or skip the kebab dinner and add a couple more apps instead -- the delicious fattush salad, tasty kibbeh, some hummous or a lentil soup.
