The way my French buddy pronounces that name, it sounds like "mutton". He says, "Terrible name: nobody in France goes to Menton for the food." (I definitely think of The FreshMaker first.) Would love to hear the owners' definitively correct pronunciation: did they choose the French, Occitan, or Mentonasc version?

I suppose we need to wait for however Billy Costa or the Andelmans say it.

Hmm, but will bathroom cleanliness and availability of parking be able to trump low scores on portion size and value?

I'd play it safe if I were Barbara, and serve each course in a deep fried bread bowl coated in cheese and sour cream. "For a dish worth driving your Bentley to."

It's not really fair to Costa to lump him in with The Dumb Brothers, but his pronunciations of foodstuffs are sometimes appalling. I thought he grew up in East Cambridge with some Portuguese ancestry, but I heard him say "chew-REE-co" for chouriço on TV Diner not too long ago.

I agree, but Costa can get a little weird at times. I still measure my dining- out selections by the regulars on this board before any of the TV self proclaimed experts. i enjoy the occasional levity.
