We are looking for delicious close by steakhouses or great places for seafood? Won't have a car but don't mind a quick taxi ride. Thanks!

  1. NY Prime, The Palm, and Morton's are in walking distance.
I would recommend Bone's however as a first choice for your steak house (short cab ride).

You could try Bluepointe for seafood...just up the road...short walk.

Thank you! I have heard about Bones and Bluepointe and will look into both of them further!

If you want to combine some interests and go Tuscan, I highly recommend Antica Posta....short cab ride. This is a fun place, really authentic and you can get great seafood there.

They are just now promoting a veal chop milanese that looks absolutely delicious.

I just looked at their website RC and looks delicious and different! Thank you!

    2. You can combine seafood and steak at the Lobster Bar at Chops. Short cab ride for you.

The buckhead life group restaurants (which includes Chops) are so corporate....not much personality. I wouldn't recommend it if you are coming from out of town.

        1. re: rcburli

I would agree about Chops in terms of the decor. However, I like the environment with the arched ceilings at the Lobster Bar, and have always been pleased with the food. Don't think I would describe the Lobster Bar as having little personlity.

          1. re: edwardspk

Lobster Bar food is good, that's for sure. I actually had my bachelor party dinner there, and it was fun.
I just wouldn't recommend it for someone from out of town with only one or two meals in Atlanta.

            1. re: rcburli

Thanks guys! I am off to google them all :)!

              1. re: Racheleats

I know it's not in my same neighborhood but what about Surpas?

                1. re: Racheleats

I have friends who went to Serpas and really enjoyed it. I have not been.
It's not in the best neighborhood, although the Auburn Ave area is getting better. Worth a visit during the day, and you could check out the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.

If you did take a taxi from Buckhead ($20-$30), I wouldn't recommend Friday night because of traffic. Saturday would be better.
You could also take MARTA (train) across the street from your hotel and take it downtown, and then get a quick taxi there.

                    Thank you RC!

Antica Posta is nice - I went with a couple of coworkers are few years ago.

The Tavern on Phipps is great, You should try Maggiano's - it is delightful.

The City Club of Buckhead is a private dining club but it is an amazing experience.

The Atlanta Fish Market is yet another option and let's not forget the Buckhead Diner.

Buckhead Diner: highly, highly recommend. It's the only restaurant belonging to Buckhead Life that doesn't feel stuck in the early 90's. Go, and be sure to get their homemade potato chips covered in Maytag blue cheese.

You'll also be close to Fat Matt's, arguably the best BBQ in Atlanta and definitely the best in Buckhead.

As RC said, definitely check out Antica Posta. They are, I believe, the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Their risottos are amazing and the dining area is very intimate (it's in a cottage). Not so much like the generically uber-sleek places like Blupoint.

And about a 15-min cab ride down Peachtree will bring you to Holeman and Finch Public House, one of the best new restaurants in the city.

Sorry kids, I think you'll find that the true Atlanta BBQ fans will tell you that Fatt Matt's is not a good place to find BBQ in the area. Fatt Matt's has a fun, goofy name and... well, that's it. Check with those in the know (me, evidently) Community Q and Fox Brothers BBQ are by far your best bets in the area.

Tavern at Phipps is a see-and-be-seen place, not worth going.

Maggiano's? Please folks, let's not recommend chain restaurants. Atlanta is a much better town than that.

                            1. re: Fuller

Thanks for the help but NOT a BBQ person ( I know I know, being in RIchmond you would think I would be but I am NOT). Also, not a fan of Maggiano's either, we have one of those too! Thanks again guys!

                              1. re: Racheleats

Glad you are steering clear of the chain.
