Squid or calamari for birthday dinner
My brothers 50th birthday is coming up. I want to take him out to dinner. His favorite food is squid or calamari and and he is not prejudiced as to style of cooking. Maybe Om seafood? Any good Italian places? Any ideas out there? Thanks. Mike

I haven't been to Thien Hong in a long time, but they used to make the best, for sure. I also really liked their fried whole fish, fried tofu with shrimp paste, General Tso's tofu (best version of this I have ever had, though I am not a big fan of it to begin with) and they did a passable mushu pork. Good garlic snow pea tips and shoots too.

I've enjoyed the calimari at Ciao Vito and at Accanto, but beyond that they don't have much squid on their menus. I just had a great sausage-stuffed squid with squid ink sauce at Olympic Provisions, but I think their menu might change pretty frequently so they might not still have it. Sorry not to be more help--I love squid, but it doesn't seem to be featured at restaurants as much as it should be.
