Anybody tried one yet?

  1. Yes, better than you would expect. I would get one again on a late night taco run.

      What's "Pacific" about them?
      Are they Bay Shrimp?

      1. re: bbqboy

I have now seen the 6 shrimp ad, but at $2.79 per here in Oregon, I'm not buying 'em
when I've got real fish tacos right down the street.
        For $.99 I'd do it. :)

    2. I was thinking pretty hard about it but the white sauce put me off. Anyone know what that is?

Its an avocado ranch sauce. I winced at the idea of eating shrimp from Taco Bell, but I decided to give it a try for the sake of curiosity. It was actually better than you'd expect.

I'm just baffled why they would have this but they have never offered fish tacos, as far as I know. If LJS has them (regardless of them being advertised as "weird) it would seem they, not shrimp would be the Bell's next step.

Haven't eaten at TB in years, and not sure I will ever try this offering. That being said, I did like the commercial as it really made fun of the pretentious "foodie blog scene". Not saying this is how I feel about all of them, but there are a growing number of these out there that have jumped the shark IMO.

            1. re: Fibber McGee

It's probably easier -- they can buy pre-cooked, shelled & deveined size-specific. Nothing much has to be done onsite other than plop the correct portion amount into the taco shell. What's one more container & spoon on the cold line?

          2. re: rockycat

Lots of really good fish tacos are made with a white sauce here in SoCal. Pretty sure Rubio's uses one.

The $2.79 price does jump out at you though...... for TB.

          3. I was driving by a TB last Friday around lunch time and as I follow the no meat on Fridays during Lent, I pulled in and ordered two of them. Actually pretty good, I'd get them again. I wonder if this will be a seasonal/Lent thing? Does Wendy's offer their fish sandwich year round, I thought that was a Lent thing as well, but don't go to Wendy's too often, as in once a year maybe.

wendy's fish sandwich is year-round. i like that sandwich. it's a real filet, not a composite. by the way, mrs. paul's frozen fish is advertising that all their fish filets are fish filets -- and not processed pieces put together.

            2. My DH and I had them for lunch today and we actually thought they were pretty good for Taco Bell....I loved the spicy avocado crema sauce on them.

              1. I tried one yesterday and was surprised at the high price for one taco. When I saw the $2.79 price on the drive-thru board, my first thought was that that was the "meal" price -- i.e., included a drink and maybe two of the tacos. Maybe I'm just cheap but $2.79 seemed high to me for what I got. It was tasty but not worth the price imo.

I was not impressed. They are on the expensive side at 2.79 each. True fish tacos or true shrimp tacos taste much better and worth the price. The shrimp quality is poor.

For $2.79 I can get three bean burritos at Taco Hell. Pass!

                2. Had one yesterday.. tasted pretty good but to much money! I'll stick with 89 cent fresco chicken tacos!

                  1. Agree that the price is a bit high but over all a pretty good product. And I would say not just for Taco Bell.
I thought it had a nice light, fresh taste.

Not available in Canada that I've seen so unless they're still there next trip down yonder, I won't be having them again.

                    1. Had them the other day and liked them, nice light taste. TB had them last year for a while so it must be a lent thing.

                      1. Haven't tried the shrimp taco but I did buy a bean burrito yesterday and was unpleasantly surprised to find shrinkage has set in at our local Taco Bell. I guess they've gone to a smaller tortilla and the cheese was barely there as well.

                        1. Finally found something at Taco Bell I liked and they've already quit offering the shrimp items!

ah shucks. i was considering actually venturing into taco bell for a try (though i haven't been into a taco bell in probably 10 years).

you may get your shrimp fix at popeye's. i want to try to popeye's garlic butter shrimp that they are offering now -- at least i saw the ad on tv.
