Grand Opening - Ms Wally's Cafe (Emeryville/Oakland)

Those of you who are familiar with Wally's Cafe will be glad to know that Ms. Wally now has her own restaurant on San Pablo and 45th, next to the nail store. We saw the grand opening sign while driving along San Pablo to Los Cantaros last evening, pulled into the CVS parking lot and walked across the street to the cafe. We were greeted warmly by the Wally family who invited us to help ourselves to the spread, delicious Chicken shwerma, fattoush, a ground lamb/beef dish (sorry forgot the name of it!), baklava, crepes, hummus, etc. It was all good and we plan to be back for the regular menu. Seems like the restaurant will be more of a creperie than a Mediterranean.

  1. Here's a link for Ms. Wally's. Thanks for letting us know about the new spot . . . wonder if she'll do some Mexican too.

    1. Went to Ms Wally's tonight. I had the lamb kebab with rice and lentil soup. The soup was perfectly spiced, a bit hot. The lamb was cooked perfectly (on a bed of sauteed red onion and a few diced tomatoes), nicely seasoned and had a great garlic sauce. The sauce brought me back to my LA days and Zankou chicken. That sauce was just like zankou's. Usually rice is just rice but this was very flavorful too. The lamb was a generous portion so I have a few pieces for my lunch tomorrow. Partner had the buckwheat crepe with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes and olives. She enjoyed it and wants to go back and try a few of the other combos. Service was good and we will be back.

      1. thank you for posting that! Wally's is one of our favorite restaurants and I have got to check it out.

        1. We just popped by there for brunch. I had chicken schwarma with hummus and a well-dressed oil/vinegar/herbs side salad. My husband had what was described as scrambled eggs with tomato sauce but was actually more like an omelet or a fritttata chock full of herbs. I didn't try his food but it looked very good. Mine was wonderful, and I'm eager to return for dinner soon.
