Boomer's BBQ / Ft. Pierce / Embarrassing
I ventured to Boomer's BBQ in Ft. Pierce this past weekend. I've had the good fortune to travel the country eating BBQ in many different places and in several different styles and Boomer's, by far, was the most disappointing place I've visited and eaten.
At Boomer's you walk, belly up to a small counter, order and sit - and they bring it to you. I ordered the "Barnyard" which has a few baby back ribs, quarter chicken and brisket with sides of cole slaw, baked beans and a corn-muffin.
The ribs (texture wise) appeared as if they had been baked and then somehow finished in a smoker. No taste at all. The quarter chicken included the breast and it was, unfortunately dry and deal. The brisket also looked as if it had been baked and finished in the smoker. Oddly, they sliced it paper-thin and was basically tasteless and void of any character.
As for the sides, not much to talk about there either. The cole slaw was very similar to what you can purchase at Sam's. The baked beans were fresh from a can (and that's OK) but not dolled up at all.
The only morsel of goodness on this plate was the little, sort, moist and tasty corn muffin and that was it. Honestly, I was embarrassed for whomever owns this little place. The location is convenient, plenty of parking and alot of potential.
To compare, the so-called BBQ and sides that are served Sonny's are superior and that should be enough to steer you away from this establshment.
