I should know this, but what is RROTM?
ah, lemme guess restaurant review of the month? How does this work?

You are correct. We have been doing a RROTM for Edmonton since October. We choose a specific restaurant in the city to go an review, then we post all the reviews at the end of the month.

So... did anyone make it out there? I didn't, but my excuse is that I was out of the country for most of the month.
I did do a blog post about them last year though, so if you're curious you can see it over here: http://bruleeblog.wordpress.com/2009/...

Amazing, a real winner. I have not been this excited about a resto in Edmonton in a long while. All fresh in house made ingredients. We had a large portion of the menu (thre were six of us). My soft tacos with house made mexican sausage and with lamb (Alberta lamb: thee owner stands by the idea that Alberta lamb is the best and I agree. We had burritos and the chips and salsa which were increidbly rich and had such depth of taste it transported all of us back our Mexican vacation last year.
The owner is friendly, knowledgable and, most importantly, passionate (and direct from Mexico where he has to order in some ingredients). We walked out with full bellies, big smiles and about $30 of product from the cooler).
I have no complaints at all and only compliments!

Mexico Lindo is located in a strip mall near the Mayfield Inn.
It’s actually quite small. The room is casual and brightly coloured . The service was very friendly. There is a cooler selling their products including corn tortillas, salsa verde, flautas, enchiladas, tamales and more.
A group of us went for lunch and started with the guacamole, which was chunky, tasty and accompanied with homemade tortilla chips. Very good.
The table ordered queso tamales, chicken tamales, chicken enchiladas o mole, and tostado de pollo.
The food was very tasty and reminded me of meals I had at restaurants in Mexico. The queso tamales were fluffy and flavourful and and accompanied with salsa verde. My dining companions all raved about their dishes.
I tried the Jamaica water and found it mild tasting and complementary to the food.
I bought some of their products for home-the salsa verde and the corn tortillas.
I will definitely be going back, delicious!

It's yummy there! Service is good, and very family-like. Definitely recommended. It's small though, so be prepared to call ahead to see if it's busy.
