Great Pancake/Waffle Breakfast with kids...???
Ex-New Yorker here - will be visiting with two 10 year olds next week.
Back in the day, I used to go to KK Ukranian Restaurant (now Neptunes) on First Ave. in the East Village for delicious French Toast/Pancakes, etc.
Do any of you kind folks know if they are any good these days.
And does anyone have any suggestions of great weekday Breakfast places anywhere in Manhattan that 10 year olds would enjoy?
My thanks.
Sorry--not familiar w/ KK Ukranian, but I like Grey Dog Cafe a lot, including for their pancakes. They're also open early on weekends and during the week, which helps.

Totally agree with Grey Dog - especially the new Chelsea location since it's its very big. There's always kids there and the breakfast is awesome!

I highly recommend the Clinton St. Baking Co.. Everything is very good. They are particularly regarded for their pancakes, and I think they are the best pancakes I've ever had. I no longer live in New York, but when I did it was my favorite breakfast place. Every time I visit New York I make a point of getting breakfast here one morning. Just avoid it on weekends. For brunch it gets very busy and there is always a line. But during the week it is no problem getting a table in the morning, and it is a good place for kids.

I just wanted to follow-up on my earlier post. I was in NYC this weekend and I went to Clinton St. at 11:00 AM on Friday. There was an hour wait, which I did not expect at that time, but it was worth it. The pancakes were even better than I remembered.

Monday morning at 10 am there was about a 10 minute wait for 2 people, but by 10:30 or so there was a large crowd outside. My husband very much enjoyed the blueberry pancakes and their biscuts were also excellent. Overall a good place to go - but be prepared to wait.

For a weekday breakfast I would do Clinton Street Baking Company or Sarabeth's for pancakes. Laconda Verde has good ones, too, but you have to really like lemon/lemon curd. Clinton St. are my favorite in the city.

I was a regular at KK way back when, and I'm still living in the nabe -- now with a pre-teen son. Well, the answer to your question is easy. The French Toast at Westville on 11th Street and Avenue A (you may remember it as a Mexican place) is fantastic. It gets crowded on the weekend, but the French Toast is incredibly creamy and delicious. Go for it.
