Umami Burger Santa Monica?

Holy hell that Umami burger is good. Super salty but so juicy and flavorful. Burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and ideally sized for my preference. Skinny fries were nice and crisp. Service was pleasant -- cute and sassy like Baby Blues -- though the place was pretty empty. Time will tell, but I think this may be my new favorite burger in the area.

Well, I'm glad to see Hoegaarden, at least. Much better than that Blue Moon crap you see everywhere

They've got Shock Top which is basically the same!

They have some solid bottle selections, but I prefer tap beer, esp. when their bottles are so expensive.

But, I'm not complaining, it's still Umami on the Westside, but beer-wise, FO takes the cake.

True dat. I've had Allagash White on tap at FO, whereas it's only in bottles at Umami.

Count me as excited too! Although agree that they really could have done a better job with the beer list. Actually, do you know who now has a great selection of beers by the bottle now in SaMo? Andrew's Cheese store on Montana. He finally, finally got his license to sell beer and wine and the beer selection is really well-edited and reasonably priced.

As a diabetic recovering alcoholic, I'm more interested in knowing if they will have anything besides tap water for me to drink unlike Umami Los Feliz ... fifth taste, indeed ;/

Not the last three times I've been there, no. Neither do they have unsweetened iced tea (only bottled non-diet Snapple), nor do they carry any bottled waters.

I'll be carrying Pellegrino next time I show up at their door ... and I ain't paying no corkage.

Was in the La Brea location and they said Santa Monica should be opening on Friday, March 12! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I was at Fred Segal's in January and there was definitely construction going on in the space that's slated for Umami Burger. Other that that, I don't have a specific opening date.

I noticed that the latest Los Angeles magazine referred to "Umami Burger in Santa Monica" ... which turned out to be the Umami truck. Could this be the source of the confusion?

The truck is a stopgap until the Santa Monica branch opens, which was supposed to happen last November. Every few months, there's an announcement saying they'll be open soon, but it keeps getting pushed back. I can't even get confirmation that the truck is still parked in Santa Monica. Very, very frustrating.

It was "originally" supposed to open in November IIRC.
