Four day trip over Easter weekend (closures?)

Hello, I know I'll be rehashing some previous recommendation posts. But I do have a couple specific issues. I'll be back in NOLA for the first time since 2003. I realized after I made my travel plans that I'll be there Easter weekend.

I have two questions. First, are there places I shouldn't miss that will be closed Sunday (or Saturday) for the holiday? That way I can plan them for Thursday or Friday.

Second, we are staying in the FQ without a car. I am happy to ride the street car or an easy bus trip. What can't miss places can we get to easily outside the Quarter?

Thanks in advance for any help. I used to get to NO every other year or so but it has been such a long time I feel out of touch. My next to last trip there, Muriel's had been open less than a year and our large group had a transcendent dinner.

  1. If I were going on a holiday weekend, I would call the restaurants I wanted to visit and see if they are going to be open. I would also make reservations, even for lunch if possible. Normally the only time I don't make reservations is for lunch on a weekday. I don't want to chance that the restaurant I want to eat at is full or has a 2-3 hour wait.
