De La Mer fishmonger - Bayview

This is a relatively new fishmonger on Bayview, just north of Millwood. Discovered it Tuesday and have already been back. Each time I've been, Dave - I think the owner? - has been working the counter. Was very friendly and helpful. Fish is fresh and competitively priced - and not only includes a lemon but a nice sprig of dill, too!

I bought some Pacific Halibut there this afternoon. I agree that the staff are friendly and the shop is a welcome addtion to the neighbourhood, but as my wife remarked, they seem to have a lot of species that one isn't supposed to be eating these days: Chilean Sea Bass, swordfish, etc.

My Mom found the gulf shrimp a little off but she said the other items she and a friend got there were good...

I think I saw this when I was heading to Cumbrae's the other day. East side of Bayview, yes? I was pretty sure it was new, but I didn't have time to stop by. I look forward to checking it out,.

I stopped in over the weekend too as I had not seen it before. The guy behind the counter was very friendly. He said that they receive fresh fish every day but Sunday. Fish never stays out on display for more than two days. If it is not sold in the first two days it is cut into portions, frozen and sold at a discount from the freezer. Happy to have what appears to be a good fishmonger in the neighbourhood.
