You're an onion and a clove of garlic away from an awesome one-pot meal of comfort-food goodness.
Close to what Cheryl posted, kind of; what I always do is brown up the sausage in butter, add onion and potatoes to brown (if the potatoes are any larger than a medium dice you'll want to parcook them first), garlic, deglaze with a little red wine, add stock and cabbage; some Worcestershire sauce, a dash of red wine vinegar, paprika, caraway seeds if you like, salt & pepper. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until cabbage and potatoes are very tender. Add another splash of vinegar at the end if it needs it... and voila!
One of my favorite things to make when my kids were younger was to simply pan sear the sausage in an oven proof skillet. Add sliced potatoes, onions & bell peppers and a little stock to the skillet and cover with sliced cabbage. Wrap the skillet in foil and pop into the oven until potatoes are cooked through.
