You're an onion and a clove of garlic away from an awesome one-pot meal of comfort-food goodness.
Close to what Cheryl posted, kind of; what I always do is brown up the sausage in butter, add onion and potatoes to brown (if the potatoes are any larger than a medium dice you'll want to parcook them first), garlic, deglaze with a little red wine, add stock and cabbage; some Worcestershire sauce, a dash of red wine vinegar, paprika, caraway seeds if you like, salt & pepper. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until cabbage and potatoes are very tender. Add another splash of vinegar at the end if it needs it... and voila! -
One of my favorite things to make when my kids were younger was to simply pan sear the sausage in an oven proof skillet. Add sliced potatoes, onions & bell peppers and a little stock to the skillet and cover with sliced cabbage. Wrap the skillet in foil and pop into the oven until potatoes are cooked through.
