Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx

Sripraphai question & comment.

I know there is a separate thread on Sripraphai, but I have a specific comment and question about the restaurant. I am pretty much a regular at the Queens restaurant and have been to the new restaurant quite a bit. I live closer to the Williston restaurant so that is where I go for dinner. I work closer to the Queens restaurant.

I went to the new Williston restaurant for dinner and for the first time I got the whole fried snapper. The waitress delivers the fish and it looks delicious. I am about to dig in and I notice the cheek is missing. I then turn the fish over and notice the other cheek is also missing. Bothe cheeks have been cut out!! I realize this might not sound or be a big deal, but it is a little strange and disgusting that either a chef or waiter would cut out and eat the cheeks out of the fish they were about to serve me. I brought this to the attention of my waitress and she just laughed at me like I was crazy. I wrote a little note on the credit card slip this way management could read my disappointment.

How would you react to this and has this ever happened to you?

    1. Without question, I would send the fish back. Furthermore, the waitstaff laughing was completely inappropriate. Next time, ask to speak to a manager before you dig in, that way, mgt. can address the issue with the kitchen. My guess is they removed the cheeks prior to cooking, the other way would just be too disgusting, either way, there is no good reason for them to dismantle a whole fish entree.
