Cheese Fudge from Ontario
If you're in the Richmond Hill or Maple area Stefanie's Village European Deli (one at Bathurst and Elgin Mills) has Pine River Cheese Fudge in Chocolate and Chocolate Raspberry. First time I've ever tried it and at $13.99 a kilo it's an inexpensive locally made taste treat. Pine River Dairy is a farmer owned dairy co-op from Ripley, Ont. Not sure what I should be having it with. I thought berries, other fruit, maybe a croissant (does this melt nicely?). Any suggestions?
Damn... this was a feature in an issue of the Ontario dairy farmers' promo magazine a few months back... but I'm sure I've since gotten rid of my copy.
It's good, though? Sounded great in the article, I remember.

I've only had cheese fudge when I was in Wisconsin so I would be very curious to try ours! When I ate it, I just had it by itself. It was pretty rich and I couldn't eat too much at once.

It tastes a bit like chocolate cheesecake without the crust - only better. A cross between Velveeta and chocolate if you can imagine that. Apparently they make an Irish Cream version as well. I think its about 28% MF so I could save time and energy and apply it directly to my hips.

Black River Cheese Co does a Maple Cheddar which is a bit like fudge but obviously not the same. I got it at the Barns. It was terrificly decadent but after a few pieces I was done with it. There is only so much I can eat of that stuff.
