Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Looking for good brunch near Park Ave & 70th St.

Hi everyone, I love these boards and never have to post a question because I can usually search and find a good answer but I'm having less luck with this query.

I would love some good recommendations for brunch for Saturday near Park Ave & 70th St. Inexpensive is good, I can handle a moderate expense as well. What I would really enjoy is something upscale, but still friendly towards a single diner. Good, reputable food and service. I do not want to be rushed or ignored like some restaurants tend to do. I also do not mind sitting at an upscale bar or bar area. Mid-range price is fine, as long as the food and service are worth it. :)

Looking mostly for non-pungent food, as I will be attending an event afterward (Indian, Korean, Lebanese: love it but want something a little more subtle). American is good, French, Japanese, etc.

Thanks in advance!

~Becca

They both look good, I like this Prix Fixe lunch menu a lot. I'll bring the address with me and decide tomorrow after I get to the area. Thanks!

          • For upscale, you could do lunch rather than brunch at Cafe Boulud, on 76th, b/t 5th & Madison. Superb cuisine, polished service, and lovely ambiance. Solo diners are treated with respect, and you will definitely not be rushed. If the a la carte menu prices are too high for your budget, they offer two prix fixes: 2 plates for $28 or 3 for $35 The selections are limited, but you can check out the offerings on the website.

At the lunch we had in November, we ordered a la carte. The photos can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11863391...

Oooh, that's a wonderful choice as well! I wouldn't have even known about it, thanks! I love your photos, and your descriptions are wonderful as well. Now I'm not sure which recommendation to act upon first, but I'll definitely be back up that way soon again so whichever location I don't try this weekend, I'll try later in the month. Thanks for the links!

Thanks for the kind words, 1987porsche944. Glad you like the photos. We've been to Cafe Boulud many times, and it never fails to deliver a wonderful experience.
