Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in Phoenix

Scottsdale Recommendations Needed

Hi All,
I'll be staying at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort and Villas for work -- I'd love recommendations for breakfast and lunch, particularly for Mexican and Southwestern food. Vegetarian & Fish options would be terrific, and it would be lovely if the places were in walking distance.

Thanks so much!!!

    1. The obvious match for your specifications is Rancho Pinot.

Humble Pie has good wood-fired pizza, salads, and a few other interesting items you might appreciate. I think the calamari is overrated, but, not bad.

The original location of Tottie's Asian Fusion is a favorite of mine. Their second location is within walking distance of your hotel. The kitchen is smaller than the original, but, the quality is still good.

I go to The Good Egg, once or twice a month to get a whole wheat pancake with walnuts and real maple syrup. They're big, so one is enough with a couple of eggs on the side. This is a big local chain, and I think other items on the menu are hit and miss.

Depending on how far you are willing to walk, there are some other good choices to the North. Scottsdale is generally not known for the diverse Mexican choices that are available in other parts of the Phoenix metro. Still, there is a lot of good food in Scottsdale, just a few miles in either direction on Scottsdale Road. I would look into taking the bus. It runs by your hotel every 15 mins during the days, and every 30 minutes at night. It might be more convenient than arranging for a cab.

How long is your stay, and is renting a car an option?

I would add that I have enjoyed a decent piece of fish with an excellent vegetable side at Houston's, in that neighborhood.
