What's the dress code at BLT Steak?

Hi, taking our family to BLT Steak Saturday night as a send off to our son going into the Navy nuke program. What's the dress code? I saw "upscale casual," but can we get away with "Saturday casual hanging out in the city"--especially given we have a 17-year-old guy with us too. Thanks for any guidance.

    1. yes,that's fine...jeans are fine..i wouldn't wear a hat or look like a slob but that goes for everywhere/

        1. it's business casual. i don't know your definition of "Saturday casual hanging out in the city" - for some it's ripped jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. it would be great if the men put on a pair of slacks and something besides sneakers, particularly on a Saturday night. but you can get away with nice jeans all around, and the men will be fine in basic button-downs or pullovers. if you look clean and presentable they're certainly not going to turn you away, but that place can draw a relatively well-heeled crowd so i wouldn't want you to feel out of place by going super-casual.

I pretty much boycott anywhere w an official dress code, with the exception of le grenuoillem, which has a place in my heart, and can pull it off, based on their history etc. NYC has become pretty casual, I use my own rule that you never want to be the biggest dirtbag in the place, maybe in the bottom half but not the biggesst dirtbag. BLT is usually pretty snappy, but a nice pair of jeans, shoes or your nicest dunks, and some sort of non tshirt will fly.

I should add, I ate there recently, prime actually, and it is as good as ever, awesome ribeye, good sides. Hardto compare to some of the more traditional steakhouses maybe, but I feel like BLT just puts a bit more thought into the menu etc than some other joints, I guess that can either be good or bad...

              • I would avoid ripped jeans, hats, jerseys or hoodies.
                Everything else is OK
