Start New ThreadOne of my favorite things to do here in Boston/Cambridge is to dine at the bar of good restaurants. I am heading to San Fran for 5 nights and would like to find a couple of restaurants that are accomodating to those who want to eat and drink at the bar. Would need to be in the city as I will not have a car to travel out of town with.

This question gets asked here every so often. The most common recommendations are the Tadich Grill, Boulevard, Perbacco and Gary Danko. You can find comments on all if you do a "Search this board" search.

Tadich Grill is a classic, SF old-school seafood house. Perbacco is very good northern Italian. Boulevard & Gary Danko are "fine dining."

You can do this lots of places, what type of cuisine are you looking for? It's been a while, but I also really liked eating at the bar at Serpentine which you could get to on the T-third muni train. Incanto's another where I love to eat at the bar, I always like the service better from the bartenders than the normal waiters. It's on a muni train line as well so easy to get to.
