Acceptability of infant in tow at one of these restaurants: Prune, Salt or HOME
Rarely to go out to eat with the kiddos, but meeting some friends who are coming in from out of town. And we'll need to have our 2 month old in tow. She be in arm (not stroller) and is mild tempered (unlike her older siblings) but still, a baby is a baby.
So... trying to split the difference of not giving them a crappy dining experience and not going where child would be totally out of place.
I also wanted to use it as a time to try a new place for myself. But, again, on that whole infant-not-really-appropriate-here front, checking the following places with all of you.
My list was Prune in the east village, Salt in SOHO or HOME in Greenwich Village. I think Salt is communal sitting, right? (trying to think of if that's better or worse). No idea of seating/interior at Prune or HOME.
Anyhow, thoughts welcome.

Have never been to Salt so I can be of no help there. Prune is teeny-tiny; I wouldn't want to take an infant, w/ or w/o seat there. Home is not large, but it strikes me as a slightly more casual, more infant-friendly place. and if you had an infant seat, you could probably put it on a chair and be inobtrusive.
However, the food at Prune is amazing.

Prune would be good IF you can get the downstairs table (there's a single 5- or 6-top down there). Otherwise, it's far too cramped.

I've been to Salt with an infant (not mine). It was no problem - but I don't recall that they had high chairs. We just kept her on the window seat with us. It was very casual and relaxed - also it was either afternoon or very early evening.

If you do Salt, I'd also try to get one of the window seats.

Thanks. I think we'll do Salt. I just made an early Saturday reservation. The baby is only 8 weeks, so we don't need a high chair. She'll be in our arms.
Any favorite dishes at Salt?

I would suggest Landmarc in Tribeca. The food is excellent the place is large and loud and a baby would not be out of place.
