Gramercy area
Looking for restaurant in or abouts Grammercy. Cost not an issue as long as it comes with quality. Come to the city with wife about 4-5 times a year. Couple of months ago went to gramercy tavern and thought it was way overpriced for the quality of service and food. Want to try that area again

Never been to Beppe but it has never struck me as a cost-is-not-an-issue/special kind of place.
I'm not a fan of Artisanal.
I like Tabla, but for a special night out where money is not a concern, there are better options.

I can understand exactly how you feel about Gramercy Tavern. Our dinner in the dining room was my most disappointing meal of '09. (The food in the more casual Tavern Room, however, is very good.)
Eleven Madison Park, our favorite NYC restaurant, would be my first choice. It has all the attributes one expects from a 4-star restaurant: sublime cuisine, a first-rate wine list, cordial and polished service, and a gorgeous space. Since cost is not an issue, the best way to go is the 11-course Gourmand menu.

Veritas is another superb option. Sensational cuisine, one of the most extraordinary wine lists in the city, excellent service, and lovely atmospherics. Most recently, we had the 9-course tasting menu.

Btw, Veritas is located directly across the street from Gramercy Tavern but an ocean away in terms of the quality of the cuisine.
