Everything for the Kitchen, Glastonbury, CT

(Note: The title of this thread was edited with the poster's permission from Center of the Plate to Everything for the Kitchen -- The Chowhound Team)

I was over at the Griswold Mall recently and noticed that the Center of the Plate butcher shop had closed. My wife thought it was there a few weeks back. I know 2 Hopewell, its sister restaurant, is still going strong since we were just there for a great dinner. The place is empty but I heard this is where Everything for the Kitchen is going. Jay

This is terrific news. I was just wondering about this the other day and hoped someone in the know would chime in. Thank you! :)

Yay! No more driving to Chef's!

Well, maybe fewer Chef excursions. I hope EFTK continues that back room w/all the old cookbooks. I spent an embarrassing amount of time back there.

I know it's a longer haul for you, but I am drawn to both locations--Chef's and EFTK. The sheer volume of choices at Chef's is too compelling for me. But I'm definitely in the EFTK area more often. :)

I loved the back room area! I could spend hours in there with the books.

Please practice the secret Chow hand signal so we can identify one another once EFTK opens and we find ourselves lurking in the back room. ;)

My joking way of saying if you find someone lurking back there, it may well be one of us...maybe say hello. :) Besides, if I told you the hand signal, it wouldn't be a secret anymore. Just teasing!

I was just by there today and the sign is up in the window saying mid to late June opening. There is paper over the window so you can't see in but there was definitely activity in there. They are going to be in the corner shop at the center bump out of the building and not where Center of the Plate was. It will be right next to the Wild Bird Store. Jay

You know, I have had moments where I wonder if a fellow foodie diner/shopper/browswer...is one of you guys! I'm all for the secret hand signals :)

Went by the Griswold Shoppes and saw ETFTK is now open. Not sure when it opened but it looks great. Bigger than their old space in East Hartford. Jay

YAAAAAAAAAY! And they dropped the "Everything" from the new name, right? Can't wait to check it out. I was wondering when it was gonna open. Thanks, Jay!

I did not notice if the name had changed. I did not go in, just walked by. glad you are so happy. Maybe I will see you there. Jay

EFTK is going into that plaza, but I don't think it will be in the COP space. Way too small. I had heard it was going where Olga's was.

Olga's space is small too. I think they are taking a couple of the empty storefronts there. There appear to be several stores empty in that section of the mall. Jay

Bingo! They are taking Olga's and one or two the the right, as you face it.

I thought they might go into the revolving bakery a few doors down as they could have the option to do some cooking classsess....I'm surprised to hear about cotp colsing down...i'd love for them to have some sort of storefront at 2 Hopewell...thanks for the update

EFTK is Everything for the Kitchen, a great store that had a fire at their location near Putnam Plaza and is thankfully reopening soon as previously posted.
