Looking for good bar for 50th Birthday
I'm looking for a nice bar with good beer N liquor where we can rent/take over the back room (such as it is) for a low key weekend afternoon 50th birthday party. Any ideas. We prefer a place within a quickwalk from any subway line.

Teddy's in Williamsburg has a good back room for this kind of event. Excellent bar with decent food as well (very good wings).

A good bar that is clean, has good vibes and a nice back room area with comfortable couches and chairs is Loki Lounge in Park Slope, four blocks from the R train on Union Street and on weekends they have a great 4 dollar bloody mary special (pint glasses). They have experience in handling special events but you have to bring or cater your own food.

The Richardson in Williamsburg has a backroom area that I have seen them devote to small parties. Not sure on the details for reserving. We rented the whole place last year and had a great time, really exceeded our hopes.

Try Loki Lounge on 5th Avenue and 2nd Street, Park Slope Brooklyn. It has an open back room with very comfortable sofas and chairs. They have a full bar and 12 beers on tap. The back room can easily fit 25 people. Quiet atmosphere, well behaved bar clientele, and good bar tenders. Four blocks from the Union Street Station, where you can get the N and R trains on the weekends. Ask about the $4 dollar Bloody Mary special on the weekends, and the beer special on Saturdays.

While I like Loki well enough, it is the very antithesis of low key, especially on a weekend. I would absolutely not recommend it for a 50ish crowd either on any day of the week. This would be a bad choice for you. Sadly, nothing really comes to mind that would fit the bill.

We're gonna do the back platform @ Union Hall.

It's not going to be particularly low key on a Saturday night either, but have fun!
