Appreciate any ideas for place worth visiting. Ladies lunch, not a mill please.

It would be helpful if you gave us some specifics. What day are you going? Cuisine preferences? Casual or fancy? Per person budget for food only (drinks, tax & tip additional)? That said...

On a Wednesday or Saturday, I would recommend dbBistro Moderne. Superb contemporary French bistro cuisine from 4-star chef Daniel Boulud. Good service and pleasant atmospherics.

Photos of a pre-matinée lunch we had at dbBistro can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11863391...

Where is this matinee? If it's in the theater district, there are about 8,000,000 threads about this already. The short answer is Marseilles. Search for "pre-theater" and you'll get the long answer.

We had a great pre matinee lunch at Nougatine. The prix fixe was an amazing deal and though not in the theater district we had no problem with timing. The food , service, and setting were ideal.
