Downtown SF/ Napa Dinner Suggestions....

San Fran- We will be staying around Union Square without a car so close would be nice. We are foodies who like all cuisines. We like Small Plate restaurants, gastro pubs, basically anywhere with good food! We are just looking to get a real taste of San Francisco. We are from North Carolina so no southern food.

Napa- We will have a car in Napa so transportation is not a problem. We have reservations at the French Laundry, but thats it, we'll be there for 5 nights. Again, open to any cuisine as long as its good food! Also Suggestions on what wineries to tour?

When I went to SF, I enjoyed Boulevard (already mentioned), Ame and Canteen.

in SF, I would take BART to the Embarcadero station (from the Powell station) and check out Perbacco (great Italian spot on California St.) or Kokkari (nice Greek restaurant near Jackson Square) or Boulevard. You can also walk to the Ferry Building, which is like Disneyland for foodies w/ little shops and markets. Slanted Door is also at the Ferry Building as is Hog Island Oyster, which are popular SF spots.

How is Kokkari for lunch?

Four of us had lunch there just a few weeks ago. It was excellent! It seems to be a popular lunch venue, so reserve ahead. The lamb chops were exquisite as was the octopus. We had a terric waiter who was very good with the recommendations--both food and wine.
