A BBQ Joint in a Former Bathroom? Looks like it
So it looks like the former executive chef of the now-closed Pho Republique in the South End has a rather, um, interesting plan in the works. He is hoping to open a BBQ joint in a building at Salem Willows that used to be the men's restroom.
And no, I'm not kidding.
And yes, if it comes to be, I'll be the first one in line. :-b

Salem is lacking in any Barbque joints and I think this can only improve the atmosphere at the Salem Willows. Ocean front dining at its best.

It's been years since I've been back there (and I live quite close, sad to say), but as I remember, the rest rooms were in the middle of the grassy area. If this is the spot, then it would be a terrific place for BBQ.
Correction - anyplace there would be terrific. (good?) BBQ + the ocean + Salem Willows... perfect.

Banq's exec chef was Ranveer Brar. DoBoever was exec chef at Pho Republique, but that was quite a while ago. Victor Sodsook ran that kitchen for at least Pho's last five or six years (and I think the food improved under him quite a bit, especially, not surprisingly, the Thai-flavored dishes).
