Hidden Treasures / Unique Places or Experiences - Advice?

Looking to get some ideas of places in Coral Springs / Ft Lausderdale area to eat while on vacation. While I know their are lots of popular places to dine sometimes it is the places few people know about, or places you only know through word of mouth and not in a tourist guide that can be the most enjoyable. Anyone of some recommendations?

Cafe La Buca in Pompano. BYOB and make sure to get a reservation earlier in the night so they dont run out of food.

search this board for recent references to Catfish Dewey's, which is located in Oakland Park near FLL. Not much in the way of atmosphere, but the best, freshest, and most fish/seafood you''ll find in the area.
