we'll be heading to the ferry building farmers market on saturday and wondering what's a "can't miss" vendor or food stall. we're visiting from san diego so we're familiar with taco trucks and awesome CA produce but still worried about taking it all in during the few hours we have to spend there.

Here are a few good threads about the FPFM from around this time of year http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/503670 http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/512277

My recs- (front being facing embarcadero, back facing the bay, side being facing bay bridge)
      - Roli Roti Porchetta Sandwich - amazing. (on the side)
      - Primavera - Mex food (back)
      - Try out all the pickles/jams at Happy Girl (in the back of the farmer's market)
      - Pear Frangipane Tart from Frog Hollow's store inside the Ferry Building
      - Cowgirl Creamery Cheese store (inside)
      - Il Cane Rosso has some good food (inside)
      - Garlic fries from Taylor's Refreshers (inside)
      - Namu for Korean fusion tacos (back)
      - Oysters from Hog Island (go to their farmer's market stall - it's cheaper) - back
      - Chicharrones from 4505 meats - back (near Primavera)
      - Donut Muffin from a bakery in Healdsburg - I think it's called Downtown Bakery - in the back of the Ferry Bldg

The FPFM is the only place to get Primavera's pork tamales, which shamed Anthony Bourdain out of his plan to bitch about the effete upscalery of the place.

IIRC, he ate part of his Primavera meal, said it was great, then claimed to lose interest and cast it aside.
