Tried a Picco calzone for the first time last night. Chose the following toppings:
- fresh mozzarella
- fresh mushrooms sauteed in butter
- broccoli rabe
- Vermont smoked pepperoni
Unbelievable. One of the best calzones I've ever had. Not only were all of the flavors bright and rich, but keeping the (fresh) tomato sauce on the side prevents the calzone from getting soggy.
That, plus the Lambic I split with a friend, ran us $16.99. Well spent.
