Picco calzones

Tried a Picco calzone for the first time last night. Chose the following toppings:

- fresh mozzarella
- fresh mushrooms sauteed in butter
- broccoli rabe
- Vermont smoked pepperoni

Unbelievable. One of the best calzones I've ever had. Not only were all of the flavors bright and rich, but keeping the (fresh) tomato sauce on the side prevents the calzone from getting soggy.

That, plus the Lambic I split with a friend, ran us $16.99. Well spent.

    I must try their calzone. Should they be called "middlings" rather than toppings?

      Hah, yeah they were "middlings." Sat at the bar so I didn't have to wait for a table.

      Do they still have the banana and chocolate dessert calzone? I had one years ago and it was incredible.

        This calzone is so tasty. Thanks for the clue. I only travel to Boston a few times per year and I have no added another must visit and eat location to my list.

          I have really liked their pizza but never tried the calzone. I will have to try it soon too.
