Restaurant in Cranberry PA for memorial dinner?

My grandfather recently passed away, and the family and friends are gathering in Cranberry for a memorial service. They would like to have a kind of memorial dinner that evening where everyone can reconnect, but the problem is that I don’t know enough about restaurants in the area to have any idea where would work. There will be somewhere between 15 and 30 people, they are looking for a couple of options of places that can handle that large a group and still provide good food & service. As far as atmosphere, it would be better if it were somewhere that was too noisy or crowded, because we would like people to be able to converse freely. We would prefer something in Cranberry itself since that is where people will be, but if there is something close by that you think would be perfect otherwise, please throw it out there because I am pretty desperate.

Any suggestions?

    1. Cranberry is a tough area. While it is full of chains and chain like restaurants, there really are not many that a locally owned and would be suitable for a memorial. The only one that I can think of is the Pines Tavern, which would be appropitate, but it's a little out of the way on the red belt. One place that does a lot of private memorial dinners is Rico's, but while it's still in the North Hills, it's much closer to the city. Maybe a place like the Willow on Camp Horne Road would work. Sorry I can't come up with something right in Cranberry.

Hi, I am the private dining room coordinator at the Springfield Grille in Mars, PA. We do have a very lovely private dining room that can be reserved for a day or evening event. It will comfortably seat 36 guests and has it's own bar. If you would like any information on the room please give me a call. 724 778 8700 Dena

          • Couple of things to try:

Springfield Grille http://www.springfields.com/sga_files/sgmars.html Been a while since I've been here, but usually solid if not exciting. I don't think they have any private space.

Siba http://www.siba-cucina.com/ Been a while here now too, and service has been so-so over the years

Those are really in Adams and Seven Fields, respectively, but close enough on Rt 228. Most other places that are right in Cranberry are casual chains or similar. Just keep thinking, keep thinking....

Oh! Just a little ways down the road though:

Bella Frutteto http://www.bellafrutteto.com/ They have a private room in the back that is probably big enough. Good food, generally solid service. Have been there within the past few months and still good. Easy to get to off Wexford exit of I-79. This could be worth a short drive.

Willow or The Pines are good too, or Andorra, but these are all even farther away.

              1. The Springfield Grille in Mars PA (on route 228 east of Cranberry) has a wonderful completely private room for any occasion. It will comfortably seat 36 guests and has its own bar and flat screen TV or screen for presentations. They take reservations for it during the day and in the evening. 724 778 8700. I am the private dining room coordinator and would be happy to help you. Dena
