I feel your pain brother. I haven't had a good hard roll since I left NY 40 years ago. But if memory serves well a hard roll purchased in the am has lost its zest for life by mid-afternoon.
Personally, I can't think of a way that a hard roll--any hard roll could be packaged to ship from origin to destination, without losing its basic characteristics.
