Mac and Cheeza: anyone go to opening?
Did it happen? How was it?

We tried Mac & Cheeza on Friday evening. I got the impression that they weren't really open yet - I think the grand opening was the next day? Anyway, it didn't feel quite open - there were four guys behind the counter, which was a lot for a pretty small space, but none of them seemed to quite know what they were doing - the guy who explained the concept to us seemed confused, the cash register was malfunctioning, and something seemed to be on fire and was spewing smoke (the owner is the same as Larkin's, which also had some opening problems, if I recall correctly). However, we will definitely go back because the mac n' cheese was really good! It's a fun concept - basically Coldstone for mac n' cheese - and it's executed in a fun way. For our mix-ins, we chose bacon and peas - yum. It tasted fresh and well-seasoned - not at all bland and gluey like some are. We ordered the second-smallest size (Momma Mac, I think) to share between two people - it made for two nice-sized, though not huge, portions. I do hope they expand their mix-in selection a little more though; there seemed to be some obvious omissions, like broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, and breadcrumbs (for the toppings). All in all, I wouldn't say it's a destination, but if you live or work in the neighborhood, as we do, it's a great option for quick and satisfying take-out or delivery.

Been awhile now. Saw J. Gold's report. Any first hand Chowhound takes?
