Los Manjares De Pepe [Yuma]

Many thanks to Ed Dibble, whose lyrical review of Los Manjares de Pepe here led us to great food on our recent annual pass through Yuma. I cannot begin to equal Ed's ability with words. Suffice to say that our posole, chicken taco salad and tamales were so delicious, and the service so warm and friendly, that we ended up back there the next morning for breakfast. The breakfast staff were if anything even warmer and nicer, and the coffee was absolutely outstanding, as was the breakfast. Mmmm, chorizo and eggs with that wonderful salsa they serve.... I see no reason to eat anywhere else for my two annual Yuma meals!

  1. Glad you enjoyed. At peak times, the staff gets a little harried, but the food is usually pretty darned good.

I don't eat a lot of breakfasts, but they do tasty bkfst burritos too.

    1. I should add here that Pepe's was written up in the AZRepublic along with other out of Phoenix area Mexican restaurants:

      1. Me again. In addition to my annual winter trip, my Tucson-based sister and I just drove across to a family wedding in SoCal and used the opportunity to lunch at Pepe's in each direction, Yuma being conveniently halfway. First visit we shared that wonderful chicken taco salad and the Wednesday special, pork in chipotle sauce (with rice, beans, salad and tortilla), both divine. The pork was tender and succulent, the chipotle sauce had many layers of flavor. On the return trip we shared the chicken taco salad (I dream about this back home in Boston) and the Pepe's special (pork in tomatillo sause with rice, beans, salad and tortillas). The pork again was amazingly succulent and the sauce had an entirely different flavor profile but was equally delicious. We'd be hard pressed to say which pork dish we preferred and only wish we had more opportunity for "research". On both visits, the service was delightful. If I lived nearby I would be eating here on a weekly basis and would need to invest in a larger size of jeans!
