DANBURY, CT/BREWSTER, NY AREA RESTAURANTS FOR BOYFRIEND'S BIRTHDAY

My boyfriend's birthday is this Thursday and I am looking to take him to a nice restaurant for it. He likes American cuisine ..mostly steak like any man. I don't want to spend a ton of money but I want to spend enough to enjoy a nice meal with a nice environment. We always go to Redding Roadhouse and love it but I am looking for a change of scenery. I have looked into the Putnam House in Bethel, CT ..can anyone speak to this restaurant? Please let me know if you have any suggestions! I am desperate to find good food in this area! thanks

Why not get him thinking out of the box? Often, non-America restaurants have some very good beef-based or lamb-based dishes anyway.
Jaipore Royal Indian Cuisine in Brewster.
Italian always has beef or veal dishes. Barca, Italian in Danbury or
    La Zingara in Bethel

I was going to suggest Barca - I was there about 1 year ago and had a decent steak. I was also at Rraci in Brewster last week and 3 of my fellow diners got steak and raved about it..

Being your sister, I would suggest getting a nice steak at Stew Leonards and make him a nice au poivre to go along with it. There's always Chucks Steakhouse though.

If you guys love Redding Road House, try the Little Pub in Ridgefield at 102 and 7. they have a 10 oz sliced NY strip steak and frites on a garlic crostini for 16 bucks. RRH has always been my favorite Ct. pub for ambience and history... but at LP the food is much much better and a younger crowd.

We eat at Putnam House pretty regularly (every other week or so). It's a good restaurant, but not over-the-top, gourmet/foodie great.

The food is always good, the service is good (and friendly) and the prices are pretty reasonable. It's a very reliable stand-by for us.

The owner used to work at the Roadhouse so there are a lot of similarities. It's the same, but different, if you know what I mean.

If you are willing to drive down to Ridgefield, jfood would recommend The Elms.
